I spend my days working for the Pearl Companies designing and developing websites for the insurance industry. It's a great job, for a kick-ass company, conveniently down the road from my home. When I'm not working there, I'm working for you to bring my industry-leading experience, award-winning designs, and superb marketing strategies to the small business market. As a bonus, you'll also get my overall average looks, and top-notch dad jokes to keep things cool. But that wasn't always the case.
When I started college, I wanted to be an artist. I took all the art classes I could, and then quickly realized that I didn't actually want to do that at all. It's fun as a hobby, but as a job? No thanks. So I entered architecture school. It was great, and I started learning design software in my spare time to increase my skills, and realizing that I was horrible at high-level math. I found I enjoyed design more than fumbling through impossible algorithms and vibrations & acoustics studies, so I decided to just stick with design.
And here I am. I graduated from Bradley University, a small private college in my home town, with a degree in...Social Studies Education. Right? I loved teaching, but still found myself focusing heavily on freelance design. At the time, I operated under the moniker Twelve Ounces—an ode to the twelve ounces of spray paint in a can—in homage of my graffiti roots. As I became more established, I decided to move toward something more mature and something that speaks to who I am today.
Now that I'm on the road to 40, Ampersand is the evolution of that career. It speaks to my history of rebel & rule-follower, teacher & designer, husband & father. I'm a little of this & a little of that. But for you, I'm a front-end web developer and marketing strategist hell-bent on seeing your company succeed. I do this because I love it, and because I believe in helping small businesses achieve big goals. Check out these testimonials from some people who like me.
Sam did such a good job with my website, that I hired him to do another one! Plus, he made me a new logo while working on it, and didn't even charge me extra. He just added it in as a branding option to keep things fresh and current. I was really impressed with his professionalism, and that he bought my coffee when we met. What a swell guy!
Me: Hey, Chad! Would it be okay if I used the materials I created for GOYA on my portfolio website? It's some of my favorite stuff I've ever made!
Chad: Of course! It would be an honor!
Okay, so it's not technically a testimonial, but I mean c'mon—he wouldn't be honored for me to rep my work if he wasn't impressed with it, right? I'm counting it! Now go donate some money to them.

Dude! This is awesome. I showed it around, and everyone loved it. I even showed it to some pretty dickish people, and even they liked it, so take that for what it's worth. I'll probably have some more work for you soon, once we figure out what all we have going on.
